Hi guys, we were just told that my husbands new office will be Preston and campbell area, as it's moving from their current location. Can someone help me with local neighborhoods with decent commute time to this area so we can start researching family friendly areas? Thank you!

Richardson is very close by that area, and is very good for families. The commute would be totally on surface streets and would only be about 15 minutes at the most.

Depends on your budget. Are schools an issue?

Richardson, far North Dallas (be sure to zone to RISD in FND), and west Plano are all an easy commute to that area.

Let me be outrageous here and suggest living RIGHT THERE.

That exact intersection is the edge of Richardson ISD - Brentfield El. and Pearce HS. Go two blocks north and you're in Plano ISD - Rose Haggar El. and Plano West SHS. Anywhere immediately east of Preston or north of Campbell should be just fine, and also in your price range. (Verify school assignments before signing anything - DISD is also nearby.)

You certainly CAN take a look at places further away, like Canyon Creek or west Plano. But you don't NEED to. You can find a house, in the range you're looking for, within shouting distance of the job location.

I really like area around East Renner/ East Campbell and North Star/Brand Road. See if that works for you ... PISD, newer homes and decent lots and short walk to Breckenridge.

Good call. If you want a brand-new house or a recent build, there are multiple developments to be found straight east of there a few miles, in Richardson, Murphy, or even Garland. Going that direction will give you a much easier commute than heading north into Frisco or beyond.
