We are going to Lake Texoma for the first time, with a little child. We think to hike some parts of Cross Timbers. We thought to rent a cabin for a weekend.
A couple of questions:

1)Any recommendations on where we could stay ?

We would like to stay not far from the hiking trail, in a place with a couple of restaurants.

So far we've googled out Pottsboro, but it seems to be another 30-40 min drive from any part of Cross Timbers...

2) Also - are there any other trails around, doable with a young child?

3)What other activities can we do there in mid-March, family-friendly? (we are not Golfers, unfortunately Golf seems to be on every Internet page we've came across looking for Lake Texoma!)

Thanks for any suggestions

Regarding other options: What about Joe Pool Lake?

We live here and have family on the lake. Tanglewood resort is a great place and family friendly. You should check out the Hagerman Wildlife Preserve on the southern part of Lake Texoma.

But if you want to be near Lake Texoma you're always going to be far from the Cross Timber. Here's some info about it: Cross Timbers - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
