kind of agree with you. My thought is that Ron Corning
is Ron Burgundy, and that (yes) WFAA hired him because they like that about him. They think it's cheeky and cute and 'fresh,' I imagine. Which to me says little of the station's executives as well. Why are we dumbing down 'the news?' (as though that's what it is anymore -- news)
But I doubt they have to demand that schtick from him. I think it's just who he is. And the station (and possibly the majority of the DFW audience??) likes it!
He looks like a fool to me. A little Michael Scott, a little Ron Burgundy.
And I find it disheartening that 'Dizzy Izzy' and other comments like that to a competent, adult co-worker, are tolerated in the work place at all -- much less in front of a TV audience!
Okay. One more thought: I wish Dizzy Izzy would grow a pair! What the heck? Nice 'modeling' for others.

I didn't say she wasn't competent, I just don't like her accent. She's originally from New York State so she has a tendency to 'eat' some syllables and that grinds my nerves. Her accent is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me.
