Think so? I hadn't noticed. I think she is quite competent.

SimpleLife2: I hadn't noticed Ron Corning's sexism. I'll try to pay more attention to his remarks. I mostly watch the news for the weather forecast.

I'd wager a guess that this is how the producer / director of that show wants them to act.

I'm pretty sure that WFAA didn't spend $$$ on all those "More Ron" and other juvenile double-entendre advertisements after they hired him without fully agreeing to (possibly even demanding) this schtick.

^I kind of agree with you. My thought is that Ron Corning is Ron Burgundy, and that (yes) WFAA hired him because they like that about him. They think it's cheeky and cute and 'fresh,' I imagine. Which to me says little of the station's executives as well. Why are we dumbing down 'the news?' (as though that's what it is anymore -- news)

But I doubt they have to demand that schtick from him. I think it's just who he is. And the station (and possibly the majority of the DFW audience??) likes it!

He looks like a fool to me. A little Michael Scott, a little Ron Burgundy.

And I find it disheartening that 'Dizzy Izzy' and other comments like that to a competent, adult co-worker, are tolerated in the work place at all -- much less in front of a TV audience!

Okay. One more thought: I wish Dizzy Izzy would grow a pair! What the heck? Nice 'modeling' for others.

I didn't say she wasn't competent, I just don't like her accent. She's originally from New York State so she has a tendency to 'eat' some syllables and that grinds my nerves. Her accent is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me.

My husband hates the way she gives the temps with the lower numbers first then goes to the highs--
totally the opposite for any other weathercaster we have heard

don't think she manages her green board very well and looks totally uncomfortable onscreen
to think that she is who replaced Rebecca Miller is mind-boggling to me--
the person making that decision 4 or so years ago was a female honcho who apparently did not like Rebecca Miller--
well Rebecca is stil on 33--which I never think to watch until there is really bad weather coming in--
glad that Jennifer L is gone--
will make my husband's day to know it...

Since the days of Harold Taft we always go to five if we want to be sure about weather. David Finfrock was at least trained by Taft

Uh he died in 1991 and she was on NBC 5 until fairly recently.

Also I want to take issue with the title of this thread...the female meteorologists who are on NBC 5 are not "girls", they are college-educated WOMEN.
