Any of you watch Dallas SWAT on TV and see the damage they do to some houses?

It wasn't too long ago in one of the FtWorth suburbs that they served a drug warrant on the wrong house. They showed the house was torn apart, drawers pulled out of the kitchen and bathroom cabinets. All the drawers were pulled out of dressers. Clothes were pulled out of the closet, beds were overturned. They were looking for drugs. It turns out they had the wrong address. I forgot to mention the occupants were handcuffed sitting in the living room floor. As I recall the result was that the city had probable cause and didn't have to pay anything.

If the city admits that it had the wrong address, a competent lawyer will crush this argument that the city had probable cause.
Not trying to be the tough internet guy here but if the PD roughs up my house and keeps my family handcuffed sitting on the floor and admits it had the wrong address, out of principle, I'd sue and take it to all possible court instances, even if it costs me several hundred thousand $$ in fees.

I would think you are absolutely correct. It was one of those things on the news that I never heard anything else about.

Don't forget though that when you sue the government they have unlimited taxpayer-paid attorneys and can destroy you financially (unless you have several million) before it even gets to trial.

I get a feeling that DPD/FWPD cops are not very well trained.

Yeah, I guess several months in an academy isn't well trained. Why don't you try walking in their shoes a bit, I'm sure you'd do everything perfect.

To the OP, sorry to hear about your door, crummy situation and I'd be upset as well.
