My son and I are moving to Plano from MA next week!

Looking for highly recommended resources in the Plano area (Custer Rd in the 6000's). I value trustworthiness, prices that are relatively inexpensive (perhaps cheaper than average, but not dirt cheap - not looking to pay an unfair wage!), and short driving distances.

My list below grew quite long, so the above criteria do not apply to all list items!

- local recruiting firms/websites for high end Human Resources jobs
- hair stylist (need regular cut/color)
- babysitter - high school or older
- auto place for regular maintenance
- places to buy discount designer clothes
- place to buy 2nd-hand top quality kids clothes (my son is 7)
- a mall that is not super upscale and has with lots of variety
- a stable for riding lessons
- a place for guitar lessons (not in someone's home - either at a music center or a male who can come to my home)
- dating service or dating 'coach'
- pediatrician
- primary care physician (someone knowledgable about menopause!)
- child psychologist
- psychoanalyst
- someone to clean my apartment
- computer diagnostics/repair

- parks - can someone explain the various parks in Plano - their locations, what they contain and what age groups they cater to? Any cool kid and/or family events occurring in Plano or surrounding areas in August?

Thanks in advance!!

I like the Driver's Edge on Coit just south of Legacy for the basics. Their waiting room is cramped, but they remember my name and cars after just two visits.

There are a number of consignment shops in Plano. My wife frequents the Consigning Women on Coit.

Right next door is Calico Kids, they have a good return policy.

I'd have to recommend Stonebriar in Frisco over the Shops at Willow Bend.

The city has a number of recreaction centers across Plano. The closest to you would be Carpenter on Coit or Jack Carter off Independance. Carpenter is more a fitness center, offering basketball, bikes, stairclimbers, elipicals, free weight and the like. Carter has a very nice pool. Fees are $2 per person per visit for non-member, we paid about $350 for the year for a family of 6.

Plano also offers a number of smaller parks with playgrounds and interconnected bike/jogging trails. See attached image.
