We will be driving to Texas in about a week. Need advice where to stop for the night. After we come into Texas from New Mexico on Hwy 10. We will have our pets so that needs to be taken into consideration.

Thanks in advance

Whereabouts will you be - El Paso? Further in? Let us know the general area and I bet someone will be able to recommend a nice place for you.

There is a board for El Paso--did you think of posting this question there--they probably know good places to recommend

is this any kind of a scenic drive or just hell-bent-for-destination type of trip...and where are you going when you get into TX--makes a difference where you are driviing when you get to I-10 and I-20 east of El Paso

leaving El Paso on the interstate --there are string of little towns--Socorro has several of the economic motels like EconoLodge but think that is just like staying in El Paso and there are better motels IN El Paso---so if you want to drive little more...

outside El Paso you have Fort Hancock which has some historical significance but don't think any motels so probably Van Horn is better place to stop about hour and half or two away ...has a Ramada there that is pet-friendly and Holiday Inn Express w/breakfast allows pets...Econo Lodge takes pets too--try Trip Advisor dot com to see if there are any ratings for hotels...most of these motels allow pets because they have lots of retired people who travel this way and bring their pets along...

If you are traveling I-20--Pecos is 3 hours out of El Paso---Laura Lodge gets good reviews on Trip Advisor and takes pets--but it looks a little tired from the photos--old TravelLodge that has been taken over by local management but got good reviews on trip advisor...Pecos is where Judge Roy Bean Museum is...Monahans about 30 min further east is by the Monahans Sand Dunes Nat'l Park...and there are motels there as well....
Make sure you travel with full gas tank and extra water...

just remember you might check about cell phone service/coverage with the El Paso board--those people probably know first hand if you will have lots of blind spots when you drive east---
