Hello,
Can anyone help me find some information on Montessori Children's House in Dallas on abrams road? Has anyone sent there children there recently or know someone who has? I would love to hear both positive and negative. How does it compare to St. Alcuin? Finally, does anyone know if it is difficult to gain admission to either? Thanks.

My daughter attended MCHS a while back. I have nothing but good to say. She transferred out in Kindergarten, not finishing her "last" year there.

That said, MCHS is a very tiny school. I think they still just have 3 classrooms with up to 25 students per class so a max of 75 children. It is also an early-program, with children from 3-6yrs old. It is hard to compare to St. Alcuin that goes all the way to 8th grade and is a much larger program.

We LOVED MCHS location and the small size. It was a great learning environment for my daughter. The director has been there for quite a while and her children were students there at one time.

Good luck in your decision.

Any thoughts on how Montessori Children's House compares with White Rock Montessori? Thanks.

Autyger: Night and day. My daughter attended WRM for a few years and it was a chaotic, unhappy place, long overdue for new leadership. If you are looking into Montessoris remember that there are two different certifications and in Dallas only St. Alcuin and MCHS meet the stricter standards. (Someone please correct me if there others.) Just about any school can put "Montessori" in its name, without qualifying. My son is now attending MCH and it is truly a gem. I have no complaints with it and my research did not uncover any other complaints from other parents, either. There is always a waiting list. On the other hand, WRM goes through 8th grade and MCHS only goes through kindergarten.

Recently attended an open house and toured MCHS. It seems great. Any other comments (good, bad, or indifferent) about the school? Thanks.

Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend this school. I believe that other families have left, as well. On a positive note-- probably not much of a waiting list anymore.

Goodapples: Do you mind being more specific? We have a child starting there in the fall and would like to know if there are issues. Please feel free to PM me if you don't want to comment publicly. Thanks.

Academics follow AMI standards. One of the best academically in the metroplex. Discipline consists of gruff tones, light tapping on the hand, and various other "tough-love" approaches are used school-wide. Parent involvement and school community are close-knit.

Default Exceptional

For students with exceptional needs, the male guide is recommended. His approach is child-centered and academics remain high. He is understanding of their strengths and natural inclinations. Each guide have their specialized skills and styles.
