It's "reality" TV, which has about as much connection to actual reality as a Panda Express has to authentic Chinese food.

They look for stereotypes that will bring in viewers. Just like the shows with a group of people in a house or on an island or whatever - they look for people who will have conflicts. If they just took a bunch of people at random, they'd probably be largely boring people who generally work things out and then get on with their lives. Heck, the vast majority of people living in, for example, Highland Park or in Preston Hollow are very well off people - who you've never heard of and would never guess that they're well off if you passed them on the street.

You forgot GCB.

The film industry pumps millions of dollars into the local economy. There are worse ways for a city to gain exposure.

Wait! You mean Panda Express isn't really authentic Chinese food? Waah...

Hmmm, I think about the same as I do about all of these Dallas TV threads... where these same subjects get rehashed and bashed over and over... here's just a sampling of those previously posted:

I wish. They're probably in L.A. just like Dallas, the soap opera, was mostly acted in L.A. The GCB film crew probably took a trip to Highland Park just to shoot stock footage of Dallas in general, the exteriors of the Highland Park houses, and around the neighborhood.

If they can pull off a NYC apartment on Seinfield in L.A., they can pull off anything in L.A.!!!
