In all seriousness, I take guys (men) to Twin Peaks and Bone Daddy's. Everyone knows Hooters, but DFW does the breastaurant concept right and my Twin Peaks (for scenery) blows them away) and Bone Daddy's blows them away for the fact that the food is pretty good + scenery.

I think the previous posters really covered the highlights very well. I didn't notice anyone say shopping. Dallas has great shopping. I particularly like to take guests to the downtown Neiman-Marcus, and the women and girls love, love, Sam Moon and Charming Charlie's.

Any more details about Hill Country?

And which is the nearest place to get some respite from the heat when mercury starts crossing the 95 mark?

To get away from the heat you may want to try the water park at schlitterbahn (new braunfels).
Welcome to Schlitterbahn New Braunfels | Schlitterbahn New Braunfels

or check on river rafting down the pecos river.

As far as your question on the Hill country. I seen this place on the television program country reporter. It may fit what you are looking for.

Texas is big. The Hill Country is hours away. That's more of an Austin question than a Dallas one.

Best place to escape the heat is a bar with a pool.
