Can some other people in the area share what their average electricity kwh usage is in a similar size apt.? In Jan. Kwh usage was under 700, Feb. Usage under 800, Mar. Usage under 900, but in April Kwh usage was @ 1500 Kwh. I was just curious how many Kwh other apt. Dwellers are using. Thanks!

Default Not 750 sq. ft., but just to give you an idea.

I am in an 850 sw. ft. apartment, roughly 5 years old, windows facing North, keep my ac on 82 while at work, 80 when home, and 77 at night. On my first bill, on a 22 day billing cycle it was 304KWh. Roughly 14 KWh/day, so at 30 days, that would be 420 Kwh.

1500 KWh in a 750 sq. ft. apartment, in as mild a month as this April is BAD. Something is really wrong, unless you have bad insulation, old apartment, leaky areas, and keep the AC on 65 all day.

My apartment is just under 750 square feet, and I average around 265kwh in any given month. I set up my apartment with energy efficiency in mind though.

1500kwh sounds crazy. Did you leave home for a week with your stove on or something?

I'm on the 1st floor of an apt building built in 2012. We averaged 750-800 kwh last 12 months for a 800 sq ft 1BR. Highest was Aug (907) and Feb (918).

It might also depend on the location of your apartment... upstairs/downstairs, facing north/south/east/west, shade? If you're using an air conditioner the first thing you want to do is make sure windows are closed and air leaks are blocked. And the bathroom vent is NOT on excepting during/after a shower. And don't use that dishwasher {dryer} unless...

I'm in a two bedroom frame house in which the windows draft air. I don't hit 1500 kwh til the middle of summer. And that's using a DE-humidifier w/the AC on 82 - and no shade on the house.

I would take your concerns to the apartment complex. Show them the huge jump in your electricity bill. The air-conditioner might be going out.. maybe the maintenance can take a look and see if something is wrong.

Mine is 770 sq 1 bedroom. My average or the last 12 mo is 779 Kwh. I haven't gotten an April bill yet, but my March was 1418Kh and my January was a whopping 1527Kwh. My summers are far less than my winters. My highest this past summer was only 949 with August at only 629. For some reason my unit thinks we're having Minnesota winters.

I have a 500SQ feet home, 1 story, and my house averages at 150kW in winter (with AC off), and 600kW in summer.
And I thought my bill was high.
In summer my GF left the hair curler on for about 2 weeks. That was the cause of the high electric bill.
Aside from that, most of my cost is under 500kW a month.

I have 2 outside lights, both 12W LEDS. They costed me $12 each on a Chinese website, and are on 24/7 for 3 years, until the first bulb broke.
The second one has LEDs discolored, but is still going strong. It's not affected by the elements.

All the lights in my house that are on for longer times, like bedroom nightlight, livingroom, kitchen, are all LEDs.
Lights that are on for short amounts of time, like bathroom, closet, are standard bulbs, as LEDs tend to break faster when turned on and off, than standard bulbs.
I use no energy saver bulbs nor tube lights.
I do this both for energy saving purposes, but also to have less heat in the home. 3/4th of the year, Florida is too hot to live in.
I don't have a livingroom TV, but I have installed a bedroom projector, that uses 35W average (120W peak).
My entertainment system consists of a Media player, bluray, and a Tripath audio amplifier.
The tripath cut down on my sound cost. It's only 2x8W in full use. I pair them with some very efficient BIC America 604 floor speakers. Compare that to the Sony 175W surround system I own, which uses 35W just in standby.
I never turn on my AC, even though it's hot, when I'm out.
It only takes my AC about 20 minutes to cool down the house by 10 degrees.
Set it at 79 when I'm home (77 in the house), and 78 when I'm sleeping(75 in bedroom).
I sleep under a bed sheet, mainly to protect against mosquitoes, and don't use blankets.
What's the use of AC, when you end up needing to warm your body anyway?

I have a brand spanking new, digital, 7.5kW water heater, after my 11kW heater left me burned taking a shower.
The 7.5kW is good for the tropics, and for the energy efficient person, who showers twice a week (really depending on the outside temps).

I have a Mango tree covering my house from sun.
My fridge is a small fridge, using an average of $45 a year.

To calculate average prices on how much an item will cost you on electricity annually, just look at the wattage.
A 100W light bulb being on 24/7, all year long, will cost you just under $100 a year.
This applies to most electronics and electric tools in your home.
