If I drive by and it looks a little bit quieter (early morning, or near closing perhaps) I'll give it a try. I hate crowds. I might have done the grand opening line up to get in, though, if it hadn't been on a workday. No doubt by design to make it less of an unmanageable mob.

I will try to stop by there in the coming weeks on one of my short days of work. I am not going on opening day!

Trader Joe's in Plano opens tomorrow, Sept 7th!! Can't wait! When we moved here from CA 6 yrs ago, I emailed Trader Joe's and In-N-Out asking if they would consider opening stores in TX - now they will be both be here, woo hoo! Now how can I get the weather to be milder like CA? lol

Me too. I also emailed El Torito - I really miss that mexican caesar salad and corn cake.

Hopefully somebody from this board will go to the opening tomorrow and report back to us about crowds.

Well, I did go to Trader Joe's this afternoon. It is a smaller store than I thought it would be, but well stocked. There was a big rush when I was there, but they were handing out free cookies, juice, etc. which made it a nice experience. Most items are of their in-house brand. The produce looked fresh. Surprisingly, they don't have aisle content markers, so you would have to visit a few times before you can locate each item without searching for it.

I stopped by today as my wife is a California transplant and has been foaming at the mouth about the place opening. I really enjoyed the "people of wal-mart" thing it had going on. for some reason I expected all svelte young hippies. it was crowded, but the checkout line wasn't longer than 15 minutes or so. We got some organic strawberries that were pretty cheap, a chocolate almond bar thing that wasn't very good, and some $3 buck chuck that tasted like Boone's Farm and reminded me of drinking cheap wine in college. And some tshirts and kid clothes at old navy next door for less than $5 each. I wouldn't make it my primary grocery store, but I'd go back.

I went on Friday. It is laid out nearly identical to the only other TJ's I've shopped at in San Luis Obispo, CA. I bought a couple lbs of 96/4 ground beef ( I can't ever find it here, except for Laura's which is $$$) and my favorite lavender soap, some frozen green beans (the real thin ones yum) and a couple other little things, it was packed but the lines moved fairly quickly, and they gave us little bottles of water while we were waiting. The busiest aisle was the frozen foods.....just so many items to chose from! Their frozen fruits are cheaper than anywhere else I've shopped here, produce looked really nice, large dairy section, and tons of snack items. They have a nice beer and wine section which was also very busy. I will be there once a week most likely as it's not far from my house at all. One thing I noticed, and maybe they just hadn't stocked it yet.,,,,no decaf coffee. I love their regular breakfast blend but I've quit using caffeine so I have to skip it.

So glad they are here!
