I'd like to delete a few walls around in my house. The front rooms are tiny, and I think opening them up would be nice. If I can't delete the walls, I'd like to replace them with columns. Anyway, I've spoken with a few contractors, and none could tell me if the walls were removable, load bearing, etc.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a contractor who can tell me if a wall is load bearing (and removable)?

Removing a load bearing wall is always going to be expensive. There can also be issues you didn't think of, for example if the floors are different surfaces the transition will be awkward (and potentially expensive to remedy).

Aren't you the same person who wanted to change the orientation of the garage? Now you want to knock down walls?

Maybe you should just spring for a custom build.

Oh, and any contractor worth a squirt of pee pee can tell you if a wall is load-bearing.
