There is a neighbor from hell in our neighborhood. He has three car garages filled with junk and parks ugly construction trucks on the street. People have to avoid bumping into his vehicles when they turn on his street as he has a corner property. Everybody else on the street keeps homes in immaculate condition and even Jaguars are parked inside but he takes no notice. This is a million dollar homes neighborhood and people are always concerned about prestige and home values, specially ones who are trying to sell their properties. I am leasing my house so I don't go to HOA mettings but apparently they tried everything and not much left to do but legal action. Now he keeps all his shabby vehicles on his driveway most of the time so nothing illegal but source of stress for whole community and a serious eyesore. Is there any way to resolve this issue?

He parks his own cars in his own driveway? This is a problem?

If you are in an HOA neighborhood, the Board of Directors can vote to change the rules of the HOA to ban parking certain vehicles in the driveway, they must be parked in a garage. Stonebridge Ranch did this, but of course it wasn't a perfect solution. They only allowed "nice" vehicles to be parked in driveways. Well, they made a list of allowed vehicles, and a Lincoln Blackwood truck was an allowed vehicle, but a Ford F150 (same vehicle, just not with the luxury trimmings) was not. So, HOA got sued for it. Of course, they were really trying to limit someone from parking an old beat up F150 from 1980 in the driveway, but it obviously also banned a brand new 2010 model too.

If he's parking his own cars on his driveway now instead of the street, I think that's fine. It may be a bit of an eyesore, but it's a lot better than having them on the street, right?

Which is it - he's parking in the street and you are having to drive around it or he's parking in his driveway?

LOL!!! Luckily I can move as I'm leasing but it doesn't bother me as much as to people who own homes and they di not wish to leave a great neighborhood because of one bad egg.

Is he running a business out of the house? If so, most residentially zoned areas restrict this type of thing..You gotta prove it though, might be worth exploring. Otherwise HOA is probably the only recourse to help with this. Quite honestly if it's on someones own property doesn't bother meas much..Although, I would say some of the smaller 50' lot type of neighborhoods where there is little room to stretch out I can see this being a real problem. This is one of the reasons I wouldn't buy a neighborhood with small lots, only takes one bad apple to spoil that bunch. My luck, I end up living next door to Jed Clampett.

Hmm, seems that he was parking ugly trucks on the street.
People hated that

Now he is parking those same ugly cars in his driveway.
People hate that.

Define ugly and eyesore.

Solution: Find out what is not considered ugly/eyesore and go out and buy those for the guy.

Now he won't be parking ugly vehicles in the driveway anymore.

Real problem is for a socialite/architect/interior design family next door who hated their guests/clients to see his junk vehicles and decided to move but this is the first objection potential buyers raise about their otherwise perfect castle. Other neighbors just resent it when they want to make a good impression on guests. You know when people spend high dollars on a neighborhood than they have certain expectations. HOA is on to him so let's see. These are the times for HOA to show that they are worth their monthly dues.
