Hi, all,

I'm moving to the area in August; will need new health insurance to replace my current plan (a local HMO).

I'm self-employed, so will not have employee benefits; so must find & pay for my own health insurance.

Does anyone know of any plans (HMOs, major insurers, local area insurers, etc.) that have plans for self-employed/individual-payer types?

Ideally with good coverage, good doctors, and not too steep a price tag.

(Will settle for the first two; can compromise on the last, since I have some health issues, and already pay about $650/mo. for insurance. Yes, that is too much -- but this is New York. One major reason I am leaving -- the other being that I like Texas. Anyway, am hoping to find something a bit more reasonable than $650.)

Tx much!!

I am 45, in decent health and pay $215 for Aetna. High deductible, but I never go to the Dr.. Search the interenet, but do not give cell number. I received no less than 75 calls the last time I shopped from all over the country. Aetne, BCBS, Cigna and others for a lot less than $650. Welcome!

Try searching on Find Insurance Options | Finder.Healthcare.gov it's a site run by the Federal Gov't that consolidates all available insurance plans. I was able to find my older parents a very affordable insurance plan when they thought they were too old for private insurance and too young for Medicare/medicate (never can remember which is which).

I went to esurance on the Internet and shopped for the best plan. NASE goes through agents so may be more expensive because of the commissions to the agents?
