I lived in the Frankford/McCoy/Old Denton area.

*trails/parks to walk with my dogs
*trails or other safe places to ride my (road) bike

There is a Greenbelt in Carrollton that stradles from McCoy Road in between the tollway and Frankford. It has about a 6 mile bike/walking path along a medium sized creek. It diverges in two directions and it still being added to.

*"safe" neighborhood (live alone)
*not too far from a Catholic church

It is low crime, safe and within a 10 minute drive to Saint Catherine's of Sienna (my old parish). They have an annual Autumn Fest Carnival, book fairs, etc. You can check out their parish website with a Google search.

Most of it is in the Creekview High School or Carrollton Newman/Smith High School district - both good, but not great schools.

*quiet, established neighborhood (but near Barnes & Noble, Whole Foods, and good restaurants would be nice!)

There are commercial outlets on the intersections of the major roads (Old Denton, Frankford, Josey, the tollway). The nearest shopping malls are in Lewisville where you have standard suburban outlets like Barnes and Noble. That is a 15 minute drive if you take the G.B. Tollway to I-35. There are some ethic Mexican and Asian grocery stores popping up also, gyms like 24-hour fitness, banks, libraries, etc.

*a solidly-built 3-4BR/2B home from 1950s-1990s. ideal SQ 1800-2200.
*as large a lot as I can get, but at least 0.25+ acres
*max home price about $200K

Look up the housing prices online. You can find what you are looking for in the $180-210k range max.

It is a typical suburban lifestyle there. Lots of kids, little crime, you will see people out walking their babies in strollers or their dogs near sunset. The neighborhoods are well-educated, lots of real estate, finance, education, medical, marketing and IT professionals and the like.

I lived there for 6 years and it is where I want to return when I go back to Dallas, either there or somewhere in the Richardson/North Dallas area. You get more bang for your buck there. The Las Colinas/Southlake/Plano/Allen/McKinney areas are just too expensive for me unless I get 3 consecutive promotions after I move back. You might also want to consider Irving, but that is a ways away from CFB.
