If you're interested in Montessori at all White Rock Montessori is good, located at Buckner and Oates, goes through 8th.

I don't know the ins and outs but DISD does do transfers, at least I have a few friends who have gotten their children transferred out of less desirable schools into more desirable ones at the elementary level. Would at least be worth calling the district to find out your options.

There's also Zion Lutheran in 75214 zip, not sure how close that is to you though.

Hexter Elementary, which is a Hill feeder school, is excellent. Maybe you can get a transfer. Many of the Hexter kids seem to be able to get a transfer to J. L. Long Middle School to avoid Hill. That may become easier as Long transitions into an IB World School, because that IB MYP curriculum is not offered anywhere else.

The Hexter mascot even shows up at Long events, just as if it were a feeder...

I just got two of my sons into a private school THIS WEEK. It can be done! It just takes a lot of hours--researching, visiting schools, making your case to the administrators.

I may not be a great resource as I don't know the area that well but I learned that Wesley Prep has openings in some grades. Good luck!

Did you buy a house without researching the schools or are you just renting? If you're renting and before you go looking for private schools, figure the cost difference between moving (breaking a lease if necessary) and the cost for 2 in private school for the year (can 2 private school tuitions be less than $15k??? I really have no idea.) Would moving and breaking a lease cost more than $10k?
