Hi There...

So it turns out we are moving into Cottonwood Valley. Does anyone on this forum live there or is familiar with that neighborhood? I'm wondering how neighborly it is and any other opinions you care to share about it. Moving from San Antonio to Irving.

Thanks!

I live there. I think "how neighborly" depends on your immediate neighbors or if you join the country club. The community does sponsor quarterly parties. The Las colinas patrol and the gate staff do a fine job keeping unauthorized visitors out & monitoring the safety of the communiy. I only know of one break in during the past decade or so. We've had, like every community, our share of things.....some of our residents are pretty high profile and a few have gotten into big time trouble. 99% of the time it is quiet, well maintained and very pleasant. You probably got a great buyonyournew place. My DH bought our house in 1998 and we couldn't sell it for what he paid even with the many improvements we have since its purchase.

Thanks! Sounds pretty good. I feel we did get a good buy. It's hard to sell anywhere you are. We will definitely be loosing money on our home in San Antonio. :-(

Make sure you get an inspection. I think the soil there is notorious for causing foundation issues. I've played golf there several times and was amazed at the heave damage to the cart paths.

I used to live on Travis Cir N and it was a great neighborhood, but the people weren't very friendly. People keep to themselves and politely wave if you drive or walk by. You should be fine and enjoy living there.

Isn't this kind of the way of the world today ? We all live in our "castles" with little neighbor contact. We come, we go, we wave, we smile, we try and keep our yards nice.

We really don't get to know each other like we did as kids.

I have a different experience in W. Plano. a number of us are new to the neighborhood and our street and get together and look after each others home when travelling. Definately the friendliest neighborly place Ive lived. Also walking even in the heat of summer on mornings with dogs or for exercise helps my wife to get to know the neighbors not on our street.....dogs make a great conversation starter.
