I live in an apartment and would like to do oil change for my old car. But I am not sure if my apartment management is OK with that. Are there any place in Plano/North Dallas area where I can do a self oil change?

Thank you for your replies!!

You can change your oil yourself in an apt complex. The rules for this vary by complex, but typically they have no problem with a car being jacked up for a few hours. It's usually when a car is being worked on for days at a time, jacked up, no wheels on, that they would have a problem with it.

I just saw a billboard for a new place that might be what you (or someone else) would be interested in:

I live in a complex where any car work is prohibited in the lot. People who want to work on their cars do it in the street. If you can't park on the street in your area that won't work.

City Tire

10501 E Northwest Hwy
Dallas, TX 75238
(214) 349-9922

Not exactly what you wanted but you take your oil and filters and they do it for 10 bucks. They also do State Inspections and some repairs but mostly sell new and used tires. I have found them to be honest and can get you good deals on new tires although most of their business is selling used tires.

And then you don't have to worry about disposal of the used oil.

Thank you all for the replies.

@PanTerra that was how I used to have my oil change in the past. My mechanic would make the oil change but I had the option to choose the oil and Filter I needed. I live too far from his shop now and I can't find any shop in my area that gives the same service, making me go with the self service option I will check the place you posted.

@wxf848, @MckinneyOwnr I haven't seen anyone doing any car work in my Apt complex,I probably need to check with the management... I now regret for not getting the rooms with attached garage... me being cheap

@TxGirl5 I think I need to pay more attention to the billboards The place you posed looks good. Thanks for the link.

Wow that looks great...I wonder if it's air conditioned..doesn't mention it on the web site. Some friends and I discussed this idea a long time ago but shelved it due to liability.
