You'll do just fine. Maybe consider storing your furniture and living in a weekly motel for a while so you can get your bearings here. I know a 2nd move is a pain, but in the long term it may be better. Think long term. And our commutes can be horrible. Not the quality of life you'd want.

I think every road is under construction here.

I thought about storing my things until I found a place but I have kids and I want them to be settled. I really wouldn't want them to start a school and then have to change because I eventually found a place. And I keep hearing the horror stories about the commute there; I hear that it is 10x worse than San Antonio.

I would look most seriously in the Bear Creek area of Euless.... Zip 76039. You would most likely get an apartment for rent in that area.

There are houses for rent at your budget in Euless, zip 76040 which is not as great an area but ok, too. I noticed some homes for rent listings on Craigslist.

Thanks for that info Squirl. I haven't heard of Bear Creek or Euless. So, I'll check into that as well. I definitely don't want to move in an area that while it may be in my budget; the schools and safety are a huge priority of mine. So if I need to increase my budget I will. I'm just curious as to what you mean by "zip 76040 which is not as great an area but ok, too"

76040 is the part of Euless south of 183. It's not as nice as the part north of 183, but it is still safe and has good schools.

Coppell would be awesome, but as other posters mentioned, you aren't going to find a house to rent in that price range. A 2 bedroom apartment or duplex is a possibility, though.

I would just find an apartment in north Irving where you will be working. Las colinas is way better than anything In Euless and I think the schools in that area are still pretty good.

Be careful about Bear Creek. Depending on where you are you have a bucket load of airplane noise. Still remember today, and this happened about 20 years ago, my boss and I escaped the office and played golf at one of the Bear Creek courses. Sure enough his boss from Boston called him, just as a 747 was taking off at full throttle 200 feet above us. There is no noise louder than a 747 taking off. Those 4 Rolls Royce (or are they GE) engines MAKE NOISE. And shake the ground.

Bear Creek has some modestly priced living situations and some lovely areas served by Grapevine-Colleyville schools and is good commute to Irving. When you have kids, a modest budget, and work in Las Colinas, Bear Creek is a strong contender for desirable locations. Sorry about your boss having airplane disturbance 20 years ago. Somehow, that seems quite secondary to the OP's needs.
