Well, I finally made the move from Oklahoma to Dallas and so far I love it here! I've been staying in a regular hotel for the past week but need to get to an extended stay to lower my costs and have a freezer, stove, sink, etc. Anyone know a good one- preferably in the Las Colinas area? My main concerns are 1) safety and 2) cleanliness. Thanks!

Try the following llink for in-town suites. They are actually in the neighborhoods rather
than like a hotel that is off the freeway.
InTown Suites - Extended Stay Living & Short-Term Housing

Good Luck

.
There are several really good ones around MacArthur/Walnut Hill and 114 area (very safe!) in Las Colinas, all depending on your budget:

Budget Suites - (a cross between an apt & hotel so bare essentials, i.e., they furnish the apt - kitchen w/full-size stove/refrigerator, lr/br/bath, furniture/tv/phone/internet/utilities - you furnish your own dishes/utensils/linens/towels/cleaning/small appliances, etc., as you would in a regular apt).
Candlewood Suites
Comfort Suites Las Colinas Center
Extended Stay America
Extended Stay Deluxe
Fairfield Inn & Suites
Homewood Suites
La Quinta Inn & Suites
Residence Inn by Marriott
Staybridge
TownePlace Suites
Wingate by Wyndham

There are no Intown Suites in the Las Colinas area mentioned above, though it is very similar in style and amenities to Budget Suites listed here.
.
Have not stayed in any of these, so cannot give you a first-hand acct. Just a FYI, you'll still pay the normal hotel tax for the first 30 days of your stay, but if you stay longer than 30 days, you'll no longer pay this hotel tax and will get a refund for the hotel tax paid for the first 30 days. Be sure to notify them in writing before you sign in (see below) and ask how they will be handling this refund to you - as they sometimes tend to "forget"!

See: http://www.window.state.tx.us/taxinf.../faqhotel.html
Quote:
The following organizations and individuals do not have to pay hotel tax:
permanent residents, that is, guests who occupy a room for at least 30 consecutive days; any interruption in the term of occupancy will void the exemption (guests who stay 30 or more days and notify the hotel in writing of their intention beforehand are exempt from the day of notification, while guests who do not notify the hotel must pay the tax the first 30 days and are exempt thereafter);
