Hey Folks, ive done a little reading, but can't find exactly what im trying to search for.

Moving from San Fran bay area, to Dallas. I'm leaving a perpetual contract job for a full time, so will be planning on staying in Dallas permanently.

I will be working on N Crowdus St Downtown, i believe its in the "Deep Elum" area ?

Anyhow, im a single male 31 years old, moving by myself but have 2 gigantic Akita's that i will need a reasonable sized yard for. Plan to rent for a few months to check out some Areas and then buy something with Acreage mid next year

Im a total car/motorcycle nut and have no furniture to move(literally, will have buy a bed when i get there), but a couple of cars and a bike and a huge amount of shop tools/machines.

Where would i be looking if i was after a neighborhood home with a decent sized garage in the 1500 - 2000 mark?

Hoping for no more than a half hour commute, to start off with so i can run home during my lunch break and check on the Animals while they settle in. Not worried about nightlife or anything else at this point, just want to get settled somewhere the dogs will be happy, proximity to an Auto parts store would be nice, but thats about it, and a BIG fence!

I'm super excited to GTFO of California and take up residence in Texas, just trying to plan ahead a little. I have temp housing in Dallas for sometime before i bring my dogs and everything else down, but the sooner i find a place, the sooner i can get the dogs here.

Cheers and thanks!
Sam.

Hello,
Since you will be working on the East Side of Dallas. It would be easy to suggest
to look towards white rock lake or East of Dallas and Mesquite towards Forney, Rowlett, Rockwall.

North on 75 would be the City of Richardson which would be an excellent choice
as well. Due to your commute restraints, third choice would be Irving O'Conner and I-30. Possibly something by Vilbig lake in the older part of Irving. Easy commute to catch I-30 and to Deep Ellum area.

I would like to add the area by Riverside lake on Luna at 635. Your commute may be a bit longer. But there has been some community development.
The area is close to the freeway 635/35E which would put you at about a 25-30 minute drive to your office.
This area is a central area to all the freeway systems to all the other cities for
both recreational and other activities.

Good Luck

I would say to look in Mesquite. Your wants will fit in we'll with most of the city, and it fits your budget. Avoid areas with HOAs since they may frown upon you working on cars in the driveway.

Avoid having to drive through downtown Dallas for a daily commute, which living in Irving would require. This is a huge time drain, and when there's a wreck on the freeway, your commute will stink!

Definately Mesquite for the temporary rental (your pocketbook with love you). When you want some acreage you could look out in Forney (or even south toward Landcaster). The commute on US80 into downtown is pretty good ~ I635 to Commerce is about 20-25 min (without accidents).

Thank you, i've been checking out Mesquite homes and the distance looks perfect (prices are great too!). As far as the neighborhoods go, what ive been reading it seems fairly friendly, no specific area to keep away from?

Im farm kid/small town person so just not used to suburb living as far as locking up stuff, pretty sure my dogs would make anyone think twice, but they are far from vicious.

Im sure plenty of people from Mesquite are reading this and thinking but... i guess thats why im posting here and asking questions.
Thanks again, really appreciate the help

Cheers
