I was very sad to hear about this. I grew up with Big Tex, and didn't he just celebrate his 60th bday?

I admit it - I laughed. Am I a bad person?

I'm more concerned with the future status of Fake Big Tex on the Ticket.
The older gentleman who voices Big Tex was speaking during the fire. Once he realized the facts, he quit talking.

How I wish that he had started, in a high, falsetto voice, "I'm burning, I'm burning....." just like Wizard of Oz.

Am I a bad person? Probably, but still funny.

I grew up in Dallas and we always went to the fair every year. At my age (68) I don't remember a fair without Big Tex! He was just there and symbolized the fair. Big Tex was unique to the Texas State Fair. No other state had anything like him. Since it's Texas, he will be back next year, bigger and better!

As long as they don't replace it with a Jerry Jones and no... I don't mean the real one.

Post News, Big Tex lives on despite inferno.

The fiery demise of Big Tex has brought out the stand-up comedian in many of us.

Twitter and other social media outlets are aflutter with clever, and not-so- clever, one-liners about the 52-foot, talking, waving mechanical cowboy that greeted millions of visitors of the State Fair of Texas each year for 60 years.
