I'm in my late twenties and seriously looking at Moving to the Dallas area next spring and aligning everything for a smooth transitional from Raleigh. I visited for several days in September and scouted around the area around Addison, Plano, Carrollton as well as Downtown and Oak Lawn and as far as Las Colinas. I really like the area, and can see it being a good fit for me. I have friends in Austin but it seems like there are more jobs in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Area. I have a potential transfer there to Dallas in the Legal industry but in case that dosent work I may shift fields.

As far as cost of living from those who may be familiar with both places. Are they pretty comparable? I will be renting an apartment at least for now so wondering how that compares as well. And what areas are generally a good location central to most things?

Thanks for any input you might be able to provide.

Think you'll find our cost of living about the same as NC. No income tax but property and sales taxes are stiff here. Traffic stinks just like in Raleigh. The whole place is under construction, just as I remember Raleigh was when I went there on business a few years ago. The key is to live as close to your job as possible.
