I am wondering if Coppell or Flower Mound have historic downtowns? If not, where is the heart of the community?

I am most familiar with Grapevine's historic old town - what is it like for residents of Grapevine rather than tourists? Are there community events? Old Town Lewisville looks cute but is there much going on there?

I understand that Carrollton/Farmer's Branch has a vibrant downtown as does McKinney, but those aren't areas we are considering for residence.

Thanks!

Nothing to write home about. Southlake has a nice one and Plano has a historic but recently remodeled one on East side & a fancy one on west side near Legacy & park wood. On daily basis we all mostly hang out around Preston & Park area near Whole Food's, Trader Joe's, Barnes n Nobel, nearby restaurants and ice cream shops.

Coppell's downtown is at an intersection, and literally consists of a couple buildings, a barbershop, and a stoplight. It's been there a LONG time!

I live in Grapevine, and yes, we do have lots of community events. They all don't take place downtown, but some of them do. The community in Grapevine is very active!

Coppell gets a lot of hype about being a cute little town but its just a mix of houses and warehouses with lot left to be desired. Fortunately, they do have good location and good schools to keep them afloat despite of fracking related issues and rumors.

Plano has only one downtown and that's on the east side.

In Flower Mound, Parker square on 1171 looks like a downtown however there are other shopping/restaurant clusters in Flower Mound. The biggest one is on 2499 & 407 - Highland Village shopping is just right across. Others are on 2499/3040 and 2499/1171.

Lakeside DFW Parkway development on 2499 has just been approved (mixed use) and construction will begin next year . Its multi year project and pedestrian friendly. The mixed-use project will include shops, restaurants, outdoor/lakeside dining, offices, & residences that are linked together by parks, trails, and open spaces. Additionally, a boardwalk, observation deck and 1,000-seat amphitheater has been planned to overlook the lake.
