Since you have to be there two hours early which means 6:40 am you should have a pretty semi light rush hour traffic. Unless some major traffic tie-up happens I'd say less than an hour. I'm in the Firewheel area of Garland and my flight out two weeks ago had us having to be there about 8am and we left the driveway at 7am, took 190 all the way to LBJ/634, parked at the Park/Fly off of Royal and were let off at the gate a little before 8. The worst was just people poking along in the left lane on the phone

About 4 am.

Actually, in all seriousness, you do need to set aside extra time if you must use I-635. I would leave about 5:30 or 6 just so you have time to spare at the airport. You also should prepare for long lines at your airline.

It's 17 miles from my apartment, hopefully it won't take too long. I can check in online up to 24hrs prior to my flight.

Thanks

From the Galleria, you'll be taking 635. Typically 635 between the TollRoad and I-35 is randomly stalled traffic. With you leaving at 6 a.m. you probly won't see that traffic. At 7 a.m. you probly would. You want enough time to decide on where to park and allowing to get from the car to the terminal. And there's multiple choices for parking at DFW. You might want to go to check out info on parking....

Is it really taking 2 hours to go through security these days at DFW? I flew out of there at least 4 times this past February and twice this past May, and did just fine getting at the airport just a little more than an hour before takeoff time.

Maybe I've just been lucky, but the security clearance was no big deal. Even if the line was long it moved fairly quickly (maybe 15 minutes). I park in either remote, or if that's full, express parking, and the shuttle to the terminals again take about 20 minutes. Checking bags takes 2-20 minutes depending on how busy they are.
Yes, I usually get to the gate and they start boarding within minutes. Maybe that's cutting it too close, but I'd rather do just about anything that wait around at the airport, so that suits me just fine

If it were me, I'd be at the airport around 7:30 for an 8:40am flight. Traffic is not too bad that early on 635 during that time. If you leave at 6:30-6:45 you should be ok.

Yes lots of times you can arrive 1 hour before and get through in time. Just depends on the amount of risk you want to take. I used to travel often for work and because I flew the same flights each week I knew what time I could get there(typically an hour before the flight). But to be sure...leave earlier

I think if someone is asking about traffic from the Galleria to DFW during rush hour, then leaving at 6 is much more advisable than leaving at 7:30.
