I also find it hard to believe that some of you are defending her actions by saying that you appreciate being able to tune into a "risque, unprofessional party atmosphere" with your friends.

Really? You're party animals and you're sitting around with friends watching NYE on tv huh? Give me a break. The kind of people that might actually think what Griffin did was funny weren't sitting at home watching tv, they were out at bars doing shots off of other people's various body parts.
MckinneyOwner, I never said I was at a party. You're welcome to go back and reread my post. In fact, I was in bed by 12:30am this year. In years past I have watched with my friends at a party, or "get together" if you prefer, and we watched Kathy and Anderson those past years. I don't drink so I don't do your definition of partying. You posited that I claimed to be a party animal ALL on your own. The only time I mentioned the word "party" was in reference to the atmosphere in Times Square and Kathy and Anderson's hijinks. So, let's just put that aside. The OP asked for opinions when he/she opened this thread. I gave mine and defended it. My original point stands. If you don't like it, then change the channel. End of story.

Anderson and Kathy are actually VERY close friends. They're always on twitter posting pictures of themselves at each other's houses. She even went skinny dipping in Anderson's pool one day. I am sure if he was upset and easily offended by her she would've been banned from CNN's NYE years ago and he sure as hell wouldn't ever invite her into his home.

Bottom line ... If its decent enough for Cooper than its good enough for rest of us. For my comfort Aderson only approves such behavior but doesn't practice it in public. For everyone else's uncomfort, they can replace her with Piers Morgan. Well, people's straightness or "crookedness" does not matter unless if they flaunt it in other people's faces.

In the privacy of my own home I would have allowed the activity, or under some circumstance - expected bit. But CNN has allowed a violation of public trust by broadcasting the woman's indecency. That's all there is to it.

Change the channel? How about just change the entertainment next year.

Out of the clips I saw, I found the Honey Boo Boo segment more offensive than Kathy Griffin. Next year, watch Gordon Keith instead - babyarm.

Wow why don't y'all turn off CNN and go to church and pray about it? With all the violence and real porn on TV, Kathy Griffin is the last thing to worry about. I didn't watch it this year but I watched it last year and I thought it was funny.

Plus this is her shtick. She actively tries to get banned and cause controversy to sell more tickets to her shows.

No.
Change. The. Channel. That is my ENTIRE point. If you don't like it watch something else. CNN didn't violate anything! They market this show as risqué EVERY year. This is not news. I don't know why the moral majority decided to get their panties in a twist THIS year. Should we ban all shows that contain content certain people don't like? What's next? Book burning?

You don't get it. We're not saying CNN violated anything, except the bounds of good taste. Anyone who would think Kathy's antics are acceptable behavior for a news broadcast must have really low standards for entertainment.

This is part of what's wrong with America today, and why tv/radio/news is getting worse every year, because they are catering more and more to a crude, low brow consumer.

As far as your comment regarding books goes, I doubt Kathy's core audience can read many of them.

Yes MckinneyOwnr, I do get it. People are offended by Kathy Griffin's behavior. I am saying they should get over it. No one is forcing them to watch. I know you're not saying CNN violated anything but tofurkey said, "CNN has allowed a violation of public trust". That's what I was responding to when I said CNN didn't violate anything. You're right, Kathy's antics would not be acceptable behavior for a news broadcast but then, we're not talking about a news broadcast, are we? CNN's NYE SHOW is NOT a news broadcast. There is no talk of business, crime, education, politics, or sports. It is a SHOW. It is a show that is promoted by CNN year after year as a wild and crazy NYE show.
