Have you considered North Oak Cliff/Bishop Arts area? Very close to Grand Prairie.

I love the area but are there any nice places? I know it is growing and is safer than it once was but i still hear on the news about all the crime in oak cliff. I run a lot and want to feel safe.

Remember, when "Oak Cliff" is referred to on the news, they're referring to a large area, basically everything between I-30 and I-20. So anything bad that happens in that area gives the entirety of Oak Cliff a bad name even if it's far away from the North Oak Cliff/Bishop Arts area.

There is a dearth of new construction in Oak Cliff but there is some new construction coming on line now, like these: Rent Apartment in Dallas Texas - Alta West Davis Apartment in Dallas TX and Luxury Apartments Dallas | New Apartments Uptown Dallas - Zang Triangle

And for something a bit older and more classic, check with Good Space who rehab older spaces into rental units: Good Space- Bishop Arts District Dallas Living Working

You might also find some of the larger houses/mansions in Kessler Park (like their counterparts in University Park or Highland Park) that have a garage apartment for rent.

The one plus for you in terms of Oak Cliff is that it puts you close to I-30 for easy access to Grand Prairie. The one drawback to living in Oak Cliff is lack of major retail, if that's important to you. But, again, that's in the process of changing.

I checked out Las Colinas. Do not like it. I had it in my head it was pretty with walking trails. A bit funky with a beautiful lake. Nope. It is all concrete. I am not a fan.

I like Katy trail area, at least what I know of it. I really like funky areas with plenty of places to walk to. I enjoyed grapevine but it may be too far from dallas.

Any more ideas? I do not think i would feel safe enough living in bishop area. I love visiting but I may just keep it at that and live close enough so I can go often. I dont want to be stuck in traffic all morning but want to be near trails/city/things to do. A lot of my friends live off forest/abrams area so I would like to be close enough to them.

I loved lovers lane/southwestern area apartments but have been told that would be a 45+ commute to work everyday with traffic (grand prairie).

Ali234, in following with info from TurtleCreek80 above, you might also look at the area between Lemmon Ave and Highland Park, known as North Oak Lawn. Particular streets are Herschel, Prescott, and Hawthorne. They have some curve so that would be between Lemmon and Preston (Oak Lawn Ave).

In about the middle of that area is Irma Rangel Middle School though I'm not so sure it's still used as a school. I have voted there many times. But... locals in the area use the large schools grounds as a dog park. Plenty of room for multiple groups of dogs to chase frisbees.

If you choose to search in that area then take pencil/paper and cell phone. Make the call.

Also, What will the traffic be like going from uptown, oaklawn, katy trail to grand prairie? Is it reasonable. I have looked at the post properties and VUE.
