North Main is good, I wouldn't say "great".

I am a fan of David's Barbeque in Pantego.

Yelp link

Their onion rings and ribs will make you weak in the knees...

Easy,

Meshack's BBQ in Garland
240 East Avenue B Garland, TX 75040
(214) 227-4748

Considered some of the best BBQ in the state, cash only shack in Garland with little parking and hardly any seating area. TOTAL DIVE. But it's really good.
I met the lady today who with her husband, own's Meshack's. Was in the checkout line at the Rowlett Walmart and noticed a lady behind me with a cart full of huge slabs of brisket, Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce, potatoes and white bread. I looked at her and commented that someone's having one heckuva barbecue. She said "oh we have a barbecue restaurant". When I found out it was Meshack's I complimented her food and she was so gracious and thankful to me for being a customer. She gave me one of their new menus and told me that Storage Wars Texas filmed a segment there last month, when one of the regular characters got a barbecue smoker at a storage auction. Sweet lady - I'm gonna make a point of getting some of their meat next time I'm in the mood. I've heard their potato salad is quite good too.

Lock it up, this thread is done.

If you take anyone from out of town to Sonny Bryan's, you're doing a disservice to Texas BBQ. It's ,Ike taking a tourist from Italy to Olive Garden.

Just curious... I know it's a chain, but how "authentic" is Dickey's?

Not very. I used to eat at the original Dickey's at Henderson and Central a lot, and it was better than any of the others I've been to.

This.

Good BBQ in Dallas is Pecan Lodge, Lockhart and Meshack's. Of those, Lockhart is probably my favorite since the owners are very friendly and the food is always good, plus they lack the line that Pecan Lodge has and they don't sell out by 1pm.

So I have to spend a day in the DFW airport area. I found this thread from 4 years ago, and figures I would see if there are any new ideas out there. I am really looking for a casual but good steakhouse, will be in cargo pants and a polo so no dressing up. I am a big fan of the train track steak restaurants. I'll have a car and probably enjoy a bit of a drive, so let's hear some suggestions.
