I'm new to the area and need a recommendation for a place to get a good haircut for a man. I'm not interested in Roosters or Sport Cuts or any chain, too many inconsistencies. I live in the Preston Hollow area so I prefer somewhere south of 635.

I know you said no chains, but the super cuts on Lemmon has an amazing staff. I use to spend a lot more money somewhere else but this place always does just as good for a low price. I'm particular and I was really skeptical when a friend recommended it, but I always leave happy.

I've heard good things about the service and prices at Floyd's 99 Barber Shops. A couple locations in Dallas & a few in some suburbs. The Barbershop for Men & Women - Floyd's 99 Barber Shop

Another vote for Floyd's 99. It's the only place I'll get my haircut in DFW.

My husband loves a place in University Park (on Hillcrest I think)--it's a barber shop inside a old-school, nice men's store. He said it's the best haircut he's had in years. I am hopeful someone here will know the name!

Leopard3 I was going to recommend the Grooming Room in Culwell and Son in Snider Plaza - sounds like that is what you are referring to. My husband has gone there for years.

I'll give a third vote for Floyd's (specifically the one in the West Village). I actually just got my haircut there and it's one of the best cuts I've gotten in years. And while I know it's a chain, I've been to a few well reviewed local places and still prefer Floyd's.
