I am looking for a townhome, condo or small apartment complex in a safe, affordable Dallas neighborhood. Affordable to me is no more than $1500. I would like to be in a more liberal area with a good mix of singles and couples, gay and strait. I do not want to be in an area with nothing but families. I have looked in the Uptown and Oaklawn areas and the places that are in my price range may be in a nice neighborhood, but not necessarily on a desirable block or street. I am willing to look outside of Uptown/Oak Lawn, but would like to stay relatively close. Any ideas? Thanks!

What about North Oak Cliff near the Bishop Arts District? Check out some of the availabilities through Good Space who rehab older buildings in the area and turn them into rental properties.

Also look in the M Streets and other areas off Lower Greenville and Henderson.

Or north of La Vista between Skillman and Abrams, after Live Oak turns into LaVista.

Thanks for the info. When I lived here 10 years ago Oak Cliff was not so safe but I remember hearing that is changing. I will look into the areas ya'll mentioned. Thanks again!

Lower Greenville - very close, very mixed, very safe, very nice.

Honestly, I don't know why Lower Greenville / M Streets isn't twice as expensive.

Drive down Mckinney ave and Cole Uptown- ignore the big corporate condos- look at the smaller 2-3 story places that have vacancy signs. It'll be cheaper, you won't have a gym but you can go to Gold's gym instead.
