Doing a road trip this summer to Texas. Going from Dallas to Houston down to Rio Grande City and up north to San Antonio. I'm a fan of In'N'Out so I'll be stopping there in Dallas. But my question is; your opinion and Newspapers; what's the best Hispanic (preferably Mexican food) in the city of Dallas?

What are you trying to here...tear us friendly C-D'ers apart. You know nothing starts a feud more than discussing Mex-Mex and Tex-Mex and chain-Mex (yes!...I just made up that term!) around here!!! Lol!!!

Okay, I'll put myself into the firing squad....
Best street tacos at La Banqueta on Gaston near East Grand. Located inside a gas station. I impressed my yard guy with them when he was doing a big job for me.
Best Mex-Mex - probably Komali. Peak and Elm is about to open - many are excited about it.
Best Tex-Mex - Mia's on Lemmon.
Best chain-Mex - depends on how I'm feeling...usually MiCocina. If I want a chili relleno, then Chuy's. No, I don't like Matt's.
Other so-called Hispanic...Zaguan on Oaklawn. I haven't been to Joyce and Gigi's yet on Ross, but need to soon!!

OUTside City of Dallas, if you find yourself by the airport, a hole in the wall on Story Rd. called La Mexicana Y El Gringo is very good, and they do a great torta al pastor.

My favorite is Cuquitas on Spring Valley in Richardson. Best enchiladas Ive ever had.

If you like Pastor, Tortas la Hechizera in Oak Lawn or North Dallas is amazing. Its done right with pinapple.

cuquitas is the best authentic mexican. I also like to get some lunch at the little mini cafeteria in the Michoacana meat markets. and while at michoacana go get yourself some marinated chicken breast and some fajita meat to cook at home. Its FANTASTIC!

Sad to say, but there is very, very little to no good Tex-Mex, Mexican, or "hispanic" food in the DFW area. For an area w/ such a large "hispanic" population, the food choices are, to be kind...slim.

When you get to the valley, go to Las Vegas Cafe, Rio Grande Grille or Pepe's Mexican Restaurant all in Harlingen.
