Thanks Hamilton! The great thing is that I and most Lakewooders can identify each house, who lives and there and who lived there before...the fourth house is on the tour this weekend and was the home of one of my sister's classmates. It was quite a thrill to go over there...

In the first set, that first picture looks like Atlanta, and the third to last and fifth to last photos strongly resemble the architecture of the old St. Thomas/Link-Lee building in Houston.

ok.....lakewooder and hamiltonpl are 100% correct on how cool the Lakewood area is. Those houses are beautiful. It reminds me of Decatur, GA where my parents grew up. But I am pretty sure almost all of those homes come with a lovely price tag. It would be very hard for the common Dallas newbie to afford such a incredible home.

I agree, a beautiful area and gorgeous homes! I'd take one of these any day over five new ones!

No wonder you both are so proud of your community... you have a lot to be proud of. Thanks again for sharing the pics.

My Tudor I was talking about on another post -- sorry it's only a cellphone pic.

Lakewooder, the pic of the actual house looks very much like my grandparents house they used to have in Dallas over on Bradford between Maple and Cedar Springs. The only difference is their side porch was screened in.

Do you have a photo of it today? How much did you pay for it? Does it need a lot of work?

Questions questions! I don't have a good photo right now, and it does need some work. It's basically very sound (foundation is perfect), just cosmetics. It also has the upstairs partially finished out (back in the 1930s) and the back porch is enclosed and goes all across the back, making a big master... It also has a separate 1 bedroom house in the back (servants quarters). Paid $65,000 back in '86 or so. There are two listings up the street, redone and in the $300s.
