Hello all,

We are making a scouting trip mid march and I want to include a hiking trail or a lake activity.
Please recommend something young kids could enjoy as well and could be done in a couple of hours.
Something near Flower Mound/Plano may be.

Thanks in advance!

On the rare occasion that I get to do outdoorsy things, it's worth the drive out to Possum Kingdom Lake. However I think that may be too far for you guys; it takes at least a couple of hours to get out there.

I seem to remember seeing some nice potential hike-worthy trails around Lake Worth.

In Flower Mound, there are several park areas along Lake Grapevine that would fit the bill. Murrell Park is the one I'm most familiar with, but the others would probably be fine as well.

If you're going to be in Plano, you could take them on the paved loop in Arbor Hills Nature Preserve - about an hour walk at a small kid's pace. As a bonus, it ends in a large play area with flush toilets.

FM has a large project in the works.

Carrollton has a very large trail system that is growing.

In Allen, there is Connemara.
