I'd say so, at least in the lower price ranges.

A third-hand connection of mine in Frisco is selling a $200K or so house, and had the original deal fall through last week. Its first day back on the market, it had 4(!) offers.

We also had VirtualM's thread about the difficulties of buying a $200K house in PISD.

One seller that I know of had multiple offers before his house went up on market and they were refused to schedule more showings. Since last 2-3 years homes above 500K were not that easy to sell so quickly in Plano. I don't know if this was an isolated case or we officially entered the era of bidding wars.

Bidding wars going on in Houston right now for energy corridor neighborhoods with good schools. Id say both DFW and Houston are seeing a recovered real estate market in certain locations.

Multiple offers and bidding wars are two different things, folks. Getting multiple offers on a house listed at $249,000 could just mean offers of $239k, $245k, and maybe a $249k offer came in. Unless the others all counter and the price escalates over the list price, there is no bidding war. Just multiple solid offers.

Now, if all the offers come in at list price and the property is bid up to a $255k contract or whatever, then you have a bidding war.

Most people on this thread are answering a question about budding wars with reports of multiple offers. Not the same thing.

We were in a bidding war on one of the homes we put an offer on. It was a nightmare, going back and forth, but I'm so glad we ended up losing out because we mandated closing costs up front due to a clear foundation issue. The foundation issue was so bad that the people who won ended up walking away. So, so glad that didn't work out!

There's bidding wars going on in McKinney in the 400-500k range. My parents lost out on one house, even bidding 5k more than ask. The house they ended up getting they started 10k lower and ended up paying full purchase price due to another buyer.

One house for sale in our neighborhood. Open House this weekend. Saw several cars driving the neighborhood looking around after going to the open house. When I was out getting the mail one came down our street and stopped and asked if anyone else was selling or thinking about selling, saw them stop and ask another neighbor as well. The house for sale has no pool, corner lot on the golf course so no privacy at all. Big drawback for some people. This is Garland in a neighborhood of homes $375k-$600k.
