Hiya,

We are moving to Dallas from London in the next 3 months and have 26 month old twins. I will be looking to send them to good a pre-k part time in or around the Plano area as this is where we are looking for a home.

Does anyone have any recommendations and a rough cost I'd be looking at per child? I'd rather go off of recommendations than just finding somehwere and not knowing anything about it.

I want somewhere that can nurture them, is safe... Obviously I know they all are generally safe, however there have been a few issues with nurseries here in the uk recently safety wise which you wouldn't hear about unless you lived here. I also up until recently was sending my twins to a pre-k here however started to quickly feel like it was just an expensive baby sitting service, they weren't actually teaching them anything in particular and would just let them free play all day.

Any help would be much appreciated

Nat x

I can't give you specific child centers in Plano. But, just want to make you aware that the good programs are NEAYC accredited Accreditation | National Association for the Education of Young Children | NAEYC, so it would be helpful to find a child care program that has that accreditation. Also, all programs should be state licensed in Texas but that only means they are operating legally and get inspected (possibly) and being licensed makes no guarantee about the quality of the place so don't assume if a place is licensed in Texas that it is a good program. I did a search on NAEYC accredited programs in Plano and this is the list I found: http://www.naeyc.org/academy/search/location/plano to learn more about each of the listed places you will have to do an online search for each center's website since the links don't take you to the center's webpages. Hope that gets you a start!

Price, depending on their age and location (gets cheaper as they get older, then gets more expensive for some reason), will be between $800 and $1400 a month per child, depending on where you go. You may get a small discount for having 2 in the same school.

Plano is very safe and has a number of options. You can google day care or montessori while using plano as your location.

They are:

1. National or local franchise businesses, like Primrose.
2. Established local businesses like the many standalone or multi-location montessori schools.
3. In church operations.
4. In home certified operations.
5. Nanny

#4 has been our preference from infant to 3 years then #1 has been the best. It really comes down to where you live in relation to your job. We've found that having the daycare within 5 minutes of where we live is the most convenient.
