I am not used to a small town, but if this is what they are all like sign me up for life. The city does so much and a lot for the families in the area. If I can answer any questions from the standpoint of a newbie in the area I gladly will. We had a FABULOUS realtor but I don't know if I am allowed to share? She lives in the city herself. Good luck!

On the upside, I looked at some houses in the area that PISDstudent recommended in Plano and they seem very reasonable. Some of the houses are right between a bunch of schools with almost no difference in distance. Can anybody tell me the process of choosing a different school than a house may be zoned for in Plano?
I'm not sure if anyone answered this question, but here is PISD's webpage on transferring to another school:
Intra-District Transfers : Plano ISD

There's a $50 fee to request a transfer to a different school. Each year, a few schools that are at capacity are closed to transfers, but the vast majority are open. The list of the closed schools is on the linked page.

All have good schools in the Elementary and Middle School Levels. It's when you get to High School that these other cities can't touch Plano out of these choices.
Totally disagree. Flower Mound High School competes very well with Plano.

I think you have gotten good advice. Plano is a good choice. Coppell would be too, but is definitely pricey. Flower Mound would be a good choice.

Highland Village is great. It feeds to Marcus High School (often called Marcus Flower Mound, causing some confusion). Traditionally it hasn't done quite as well as Flower Mound High School, but it is still very good.

Avoid Lantana--Denton schools and high taxes.

I've heard great things about Argyle. It's just too far for most to commute, but that isn't an issue for you.
