Not sure. I know they're around, my daughter experienced them next to a sidewalk about 7 years ago. I remember them being plentiful when I was a kid since I was playing on the lawn all the time. I don't know if there are fewer or if I just don't notice them as much.

I checked on nematodes and fire ants here is an article by radio plant guy into organic Beneficial Nematodes - Natural Organic Home Garden Health Howard Garrett Dirt Doctor

My personal experience is it works used it in East Texas. Not chemical but orgaNIC AND TAKES 2 TO 3 YEARS TO ESTABLICH. wE USED IT AND 2ND YEAR NOTICIBLE DECLINE IN ANT HILLS AND ACTIVITY. bY THIRD YEAR ALL GONE.
