Or is it just me? I've had way better luck in Houston/Austin (and I've never even lived in Houston). The girls in both of those cities seem kind of laid back while the girls in Dallas just seem too uptight/unfriendly/hard to get. What do you guys think?

It really depends on where you are hanging out.

I never had a problem meeting girls when I was single, living in Uptown. I lived there in my early to late 20's. Plenty of bars and restaurants to meet people, I also met a few girls while jogging/biking the Katy Trail.

Try Lower Greenville instead of Uptown.

Depends upon your age & what you're looking for. Most 20-ish folks across Texas get sucked up by the UT Austin singularity vortex. It's too easy to meet people there, get a degree, get high, get laid, and basically have a kick-ass time of it.

Here, the 20-somethings are either grinding out credits at a boring, soul-draining local community college or attending SMU. Unfortunately, SMU doesn't have the same halo effect upon the surrounding city. It's rather insular. Lots of Park Cities kids under the supervision of their nearby families. Won't help unless you're in, and if you have to ask, you're out.

Now, if you are in your 30's and 40's, it gets better (but don't start slacking on those gym visits). By this age you can pick from divorcees, professional singles, relocated folks from other towns, or maybe poach a partner from a crumbling relationship. Still... the uptight-factor is pernicious wherever people dress like they are auditioning for a guest spot on Dallas (the TV show). Just avoid them & don't get stuck trolling Plano restaurants like Seasons 52 hoping to pick up the greeter while imitating every other Joe in a button-up shirt, black Kenneth Cole loafers, and Levis. Be interesting, have fun, and hang out in cool places with diverse people... Dallas is more fun today than it has been in 20 years.

It really depends on where you are. In Uptown, sure I would agree. Ive noticed in Uptown the crowd does get more laid back and diverse as the night goes on. Between 9 and 1130 or so, its pretty white washed and douchebaggy.

Why can't you just say Caucasian people why do you have to throw in the ethnic slurs?

I stayed with my friend in Uptown over the weekend & he is Asian. We hit up some cool spots that were some what diverse...not a melting pot by any means, but it wasn't "white washed" as you put it.

I've seen both sides of Uptown and I call it like I see it.

I've seen the "White douchebags on parade" side (which was alive and well a couple of weekends ago at Kung Fu Saloon).

I've also seen diversity that would rival any city on the coasts or anywhere else (Prime Bar three weeks ago).

Try some meetup.com groups for meeting people with similar interests. One guy I know swears by cooking classes at Central Market and other upscale supermarkets as a good way to meet women. Also, maybe try volunteering. You'll be doing good plus meeting like-minded people. One of my friends just met his wife-to-be on a blind date. Good luck!

Douchebaggery goes with Dallas' attitude as a whole not just limited to Uptown or white people, but all races & ritzy areas of the city.

I was in fact at Kung Foo Saloon over the weekend & while the crowd wasn't my type it wasn't whites only. My group consisted of Hispanics, Asians, & White.
