We're going out to the race this weekend and I've been looking for tickets for parking for 2 weeks on and off and haven't come across any. Does anyone know if certain parking is free even during the big weekends? I found the link below that says there is free parking, but I didn't know if that was true even on big weekends.

Free Parking at Texas Motor Speedway

AFAIK, all parking is free except for the primo lots - maybe 10% of the available spaces.

It's not surprising that those are sold out, but you shouldn't have a problem finding SOMEWHERE to park.

Leave for TMS very early, and expect to be in a 2-hour traffic jam upon leaving.

Second recommendation to leave VERY early! That race is huge and the traffic backs up for miles...

Thanks! The race starts at 6:30 and we're leaving Dallas proper around 10:30.

Yea, I think we're just gonna have to deal with it. It's a one time event and we're not missing the end!

The one time we went to the race we sat in the cheap seats on the backstretch and parking over there was a breeze.

Traffic going into the track prior to the race is not really that bad. I went to the November race and my friend and I left his house in Keller at 10:00 (1:00 race time). We took 377 north out of Keller, 114 west out of Roanoke (the route they tell you to avoid), and we were sitting in lawn chairs behind my car 20 minutes after we left his house. Traffic getting out is heavy, but not any worse than any other mass attendance event. We were rolling about an hour after the race and were back in Keller 30 minutes later. The key is to wait to start leaving until the bulk of the traffic clears out.

This is what we plan on doing. He said there are usually some parties after the race in the parking lot, but he's not sure with the race being at night as he has only been to day time races.

We had very little issues with traffic at all. I hit more traffic on 635 due to the construction project at midnight. I buddy flew in on a heli....trying to decide if thats the way to go next time or rent a bus for a few days!
