I'm wondering, with present/near future road construction( next 2 years or so ), which areas of metroplex would allow for a commute of 30-40 min or less at peak times , if I will be working just south of DFW ?

Thanks
Carpe

The bigger question is what's your budget? Almost all of NE Tarrant County and a large part of Dallas County is within 30 minutes of DFW.

Thank you ChristieP. At this point I am not too concerned about budget ( will be in apt first and scope the area ). Mainly I am interested in which major road interchanges ( that would need to be traversed ) over the next 2 years or so can I eliminate in my search for a 30-40 min commute to south of DFW, and , thus, which suburbs does that eliminate ?

For example, I am fairly familiar with the Metroplex although not having lived there proper in 20 years ( but have visited and driven through often in last 3 to 4 years) ; and many folks in the forum extol Grapevine and Flower Mound , for good reasons, but doesnt all the work on 121/114 through Grapevine eliminate some areas ( including Flower Mound ) according to my criteria of wanting a 30-40 min commute ?

So, I suppose, a more specific question would be , over the next 2 years, is Flower Mound to just south of DFW a doable 30-40 min commute, at peak times ?

Thanks.

FloMo is great if you have kids and want to be surrounded by other families. If that doesn't describe you, you will probably be miserable there. The commute to DFW from FloMo is ok as long as you're not trying to do it at 8 AM and 5 PM.

If you're willing to pay whatever for a great place to live, try these:
925 Main Street apartments in Grapevine, Texas

Thanks for replies. Would Cedar Hill to Trinity Blvd area just south of DFW in 30-40 min at peak traffic times be doable ( up 161 ) ?

Thanks Carpe.

Thanks Carpe.
Yes, it would be doable, particularly if you use 161 instead of 360, which always seems congested.

Keep in mind that 161 is a toll road, so you could be spending $100+ a month in tolls. They add up really quickly!

Also, traffic coming north from the southern suburbs at rush hours is VERY heavy thanks to all of the growth down there. Personally, I bet you won't be able to get from Cedar Hill to DFW in 30 minutes at peak traffic....

There will be tie-ups no matter what route you take, but the southern suburbs don't have nearly the traffic congestion issues found in other parts of DFW, even with the growth taking place. I would suggest that the OP considers the closer communities that Squirl listed and also visit Cedar Hill to see if a commute from there would be tolerable.
