I don't know. Maybe the Ft. Worth Star Telegram does something similar that is more Ft. Worth-centric.

yes--but avg is only that--top/bottom prices are different and can vary in some areas quite a bit--
Keller / Colleyville/ Southlake all have new construction with higher prices and lots of difference between some resale homes on market as well...

Agreed - the areas they break down are pretty large, so there's going to be a lot of variation. I like to quote sq ft pricing, but when I'm doing so, I'm talking about a much, much smaller area (like when I refer to my specific neighborhood). It has much more relevance then. But then a newspaper couldn't possibly get this granular... it'd take up their whole paper!

N-E Dallas includes some of the 80's condos and homes in the less desirable blocks that may be in the $50-60/sq ft range, while it also includes streets in the nicer areas that may be $150-170/sq ft... but these numbers are good at showing trends, as long as the data boundaries are the same. It would be nice if they showed the last (4) quarters for comparison to see if there is a trend.

Also the East Dallas Area 12 is huge and includes everything from Central to Mesquite. It also has a good chunk of South Dallas. So it varies quite a bit - I know the Lakewood M-Streets average is about $200 from figures in the Lakewood Advocate. Of course as I stated on another post it can be much higher for a vintage Tudor and other styles.

Sniff... sniff... my wife and I absolutely love the old Tudor revivals. They're just gorgeous. In the end, we decided our budget just wouldn't allow us to buy in that area. Such beautiful homes! There are some neat prairie-style homes also.

I'm trying to restore a 1916 Craftsman now (funny how all my money goes to fixing up rentals and I am the last to get anything) - it's a Sears Kit Home in Junius Heights Historic District (1st Annual Tour Nov. 11) - I'll try to post it and the original plan ad in East Dallas/Lakewood pics but here's a peek:

Very cool. Craftsman homes are great.

Is a "kit home" what it sounds like? I know you can get "pre-fabricated" homes today that basically have all the wood cut for your house and you hire somebody to put it together. Did they do the same thing back in 1916? From Sears?!?
