There's a lot of good info here. For one, even given the population difference a person is just as likely or more likely to be forcibly raped in Plano as they are in Duncanville.

I am willing to bet that the crime rates are higher in Duncanville, Desoto, Lancaster, and Cedar Hill than in Plano, Frisco, Allen, Mckinney. Basically the south suburbs vs the north. Im too lazy to go researching though.

Staying with forcible rape,
Plano, Frisco, Allen, Mckinney represent about 629000
Duncanville, Desoto, Lancaster, and Cedar Hill represent about 171,000

Plano, Frisco, Allen, Mckinney represent 124 forcible rapes
Duncanville, Desoto, Lancaster, and Cedar Hill represent 28 forcible rapes

Doing the numbers a person in Plano, Frisco, Allen, Mckinney is more likely to be a victim of forcible rape than in Duncanville, Desoto, Lancaster, and Cedar Hill

I did the math to prove my point. This data is from 2010 off citydata's web page.

I took the crime rate (total incidents) for the four cities in the south and added them together. Then divided it by the total population of the four cities. I also did this for the 4 northern cities I mentioned.

Total crimes in Desoto, lancaster, Duncanville, Cedar Hill = 9929
population is 192,695
comes out to .052

Total crimes for Frisco, Plano, Allen, Mckinney = 15776
population is 596,812
comes out to .026

You are twice as likely to be a victim of a crime in the southern cities.

I used to live in Plano but recently move to Forney. Did Forneys calculations to compare.....

Total crimes for Forney = 427
population is 14,746
comes out to .029

Can we stay on topic. This thread is supposed to be about Duncanville, not northern versus southern suburbs.

my post backs up the OP's original message with data as evidence.

I stand by what I said before. Those of us who have been on CD for years already know how you feel about the northern and southern suburbs, along with the disdain you have for certain communities. While you might enjoy turning it into northern versus southern suburbs discussion, the topic of this thread is Duncanville.

I don't know why you are using such old numbers when we have 2013 projections now. I show the numbers a little tighter than you have them. But you have to get into the meat of the numbers. You will be more subject to a burglary in Duncanville, a rape in Plano or move from Duncanville to Frisco and maintain the same chance at an aggravated assault.

You can move from Duncanville to McKinney and decrease your chances of a motor vehicle crime but you'd increase your chances of an aggravated assault. I think I like Allen's numbers overall. Some people are just unfortunate to become victims of a series of crimes. But the bottom line is we live in the same world, move where you want and pick your poison.

I prefer to use data that has been collected even though its 3 years old than data that is a guess (projection). The bottom line is the southern suburbs are high crime areas compared to your average suburb. That backs up what the OP was trying to say.
