We are thinking to buy a preowned home in north Texas area. Can anyone suggest list of things,
which can raise red flags?
For example
Foundation is one thing I know one should definately check. You never know how well
the previous owner has been taking care of..Some people are suggesting to
get a foundation company or structural engineer and get inspected.

Need to pressure test the plumbing
Need to check the electricity
Need to check the HVAC system
Need to get the roof checked out
Also:
Sprinkler system
Appliances
Faucets
Doors
Toilets
Windows
Light fixtures

......get a professional inspector and if the inspector recommends, get a foundation engineer

There are many, many, many things to check and you can spend a great deal of time reading and preparing to check them yourself. However I would instead contract a very thorough and licensed Professional Inspector to inspect the home. Your time is much better used handling all of the other details of home buying.

My problem with "inspectors" is generally they know not much more than zilch about foundations, outside plumbing and HVAC.

Get an inspection. And for goodness sake as Squirl mentioned get a plumbing pressure test, and have him/her give you an opinion about any gas service, get a foundation guy to walk the inside and outside of the home and pay an HVAC pro to crawl up in the attic and look around.

YEP BY ALL MEANS
HIRE LICENSED QUALIFIED PROFESSIONAL STRUCTURAL ENGINEER, ELECTRICIAN, PLUMBER, APPLIANCE TECH, HVAC TECH, IRRIGATION TECH, AND GENERAL CONTRACTOR
they are after all the folks that designed & installed all the original systems improperly that Qualified Professional Inspectors write up on a daily basis, remember all properties have also passed code inspections so everyone can just forgo due diligence or anything close to prudent and buy away!
