Anyone know of a good website/service to help find an apartment in the oaklawn/uptown area?

Here are the specifics:

My buddy and I are looking to get a place together in that area but our combined budget is tight. Right now I'm looking at $1,200 (Without utilities). Finding a 2/2 would be great, but we would be fine with a 2/1 or even a 1/1/1(study).

Anyone have any idea if that is doable with that budget? and any tips?... Obviously the big name apartment complexes are out of the question.

Any help would be great.

I second padmapper.

There are a lot of places for lease right now that don't advertise online. I've seen lots of signs out on Hall, Rawlins, Holland, Bowser, and Gilbert. Welborn and Hood st. Are that way too.

Do you live in Dallas currently? The best way to find a rental in one of the nice older apt complexes in that area is to just drive by and look for the "For Rent" signs. A lot of those property managers don't advertise.
