As a transplant myself, i am guilty of asking this question. But, my amazement has nothing to do with my thinking that "there was no city here before I got here" or because I think "the universe revolves around me". I am an immigrant and pretty much all of my friends and family from up north are nomadic immigrants. So, I am always super excited to meet people who were born and raised here. Those are just my motives and I might be in the minority. But, perhaps, like me, the people you've been talking to are amazed and slightly envious of the fact that you know exactly where you are from and where you belong.

Me: "Dallas."
Them: "Where did you live before you lived in Dallas?"

Me: "Didn't used to be." *wink*

Anyone else tired of having this conversation?
(Laughter) Indeed, I find it most annoying when being asked this question while I'm trying to push
one of those buttons on my remote. I hate having to use a remote! "Drum roll(clash)!

I think it's strange people would be so shocked that someone says they were born and raised in Dallas. I mean it's over 6 million people right? Do they think all 6 million came there from somewhere else?

Also with having family in Texas and a couple friends from Texas I've heard stories of how people born and raised in Texas never leave lol. Of course my friends I met in Reno did and one said he talks to his friends back home and they complain about this or that and my friend says why don't you move then? They're reply is well..it's Texas!!!

Oh some of us leave, I did for about 12 years, but I came back. It is strange though, people thinking everyone is from somewhere else, but I guess that happens when you have as many transplants as we do. Another odd thing, when I meet transplants in the burbs, they'll ask me where I live...as in Plano, Frisco...? When I tell them Dallas, like the actual city and not FND or one of the suburbs, it seems to confuse them. I know we've touched on this in other CD discussions.
