As always, trying to divert the discussion of any possible problem in Dallas to the suburbs. Nevertheless, not too many of these in Frisco: Man killed near ATM in Oak Lawn | Dallas Morning News | News for Dallas, Texas | News: Local News | Crime (http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/localnews/crime/stories/DN-slaying_18met.ART0.State.Edition1.43672c4.html - broken link)

I'm sure it was all his fault for driving down from - gasp - McKinney! It's unfortunate that, in your rabid desire to paint a rosy picture of Dallas, you (and certain others) often mislead people about the sometimes valid concerns of living in an urban environment.

Speaking of life in the big city.... one can expect crime. The OP was...

But then, life really is no more dangerous in the city than in the 'burbs. Look at all the people who have lived there for an extended period of time and have survived ably.

I would call 'rabid' someone who lurks and then comes in to take a shot at me.

I guess iconoclasm is not easily grasped on a message board.

Rabid - Extremely zealous or enthusiastic; fanatical

I think that pretty well sums you up.

I haven't lived there since the 70's, but visit the area frequently now. There is NO place Dangerous for me in that area. If you are thinking of moving to that area, it's OK. Just be aware, that as the rest of Dallas is being populated by the newly arriving Mexicans, that this area is the same. If that's ok by you, then full speed ahead. The ONLY problems anywhere in this area are with the "teens" who hang out here and there. No adults will bother you in any way. Just don't give the "teen" population any problems, unless you are NOT ALONE.

Most people here seem to think it's pretty safe and getting safer -- so I don't think I am 'misleading' anyone. I am pointing out that car break-ins can happen everywhere - so what's your problem with that TOS?

Uh. Oak Lawn and surroundings are experiencing the opposite trend. A departure of hispanics. Little Mexico, for example, is shrinking rapidly.

We just had a bunch of them over the weekend in my gated complex. Then again, my neighbors were stupid enough to leave laptops and ipods in plain view in their cars.
