I have received numerous job offers from law firms in Dallas & Houston, i've narrowed it down to 2 but I need help in determining which city to choose!! I visited both cities about 6 years ago, and i'm pretty sure a lot has changed since then. The two main things i'm seeking are: Safety & Diversity. I'm in my early twenties, I recently graduated from Georgetown, I enjoy going out to nightclubs & attending social events. I'm a bi-racial female who is open to interracial dating. I have always been surrounded by individuals of different cultures & backgrounds, and I would like to keep it that way. So, for someone of my age, & with my prefrences, which city should I choose??

You may wish to do a search on existing Dallas vs. Houston threads in the Texas forum . This topic is heated and there are plenty of people who will say one or the other. After reviewing those threads, maybe come up with very specific questions in a new thread. I hate being heavy handed, but I am afraid some members will end up in jeopardy . Btw, in theory, nothing is wrong with your post, so don't take this personally. I will not close it again if you open another thread in the Texas forum instead of this subforum. I will, however, try my durndest to keep it from being hijacked .

Dallas vs. Houston threads are notoriously bad! Look out!

These cities are more similar than different.

The City of Dallas is less sprawling than the City of Houston, mainly due to Dallas having a better light rail system. You won't have to drive all over town to get what you need. Most everything is located in the center of the city.

My brother and sister in law just moved up here from Houston. Other than missing family back in Houston, they really like Dallas a lot. It has a lot of accessible green space like White Rock Lake. And the people aren't stuck up like they were told by their "friends" in Houston.

The Dallas Bar is more active than the Houston Bar Association. The Dallas Association of Young Lawyers is a good place to meet people. There are happy hours quite often. I know the Houston Bar is not nearly as active, and it does not have a very active Young Lawyers Association.

As a young girl in your twenties, I'd suggest Uptown. That's where all the single lawyers live anyway, so you'll probably hear that from a lot of people. It does have a good amount of clubs and there are many social events in the area. With Victory Park, the area has a posh nightclubs like Ghostbar and Rain.

I'm not as familiar with Houston. But I do think Houston's downtown is a little nicer. There aren't as many parking lots. Downtown Dallas is really making good strides, and is overall a very good place to work.
