I don't believe you can get from Las Colinas to Lakewood in 40 mins at rush hour.

If you can afford it, I would live in Lakewood and have the daughter commuting a long distance. First, she is only going to be in school for a few years. Second, with online classes, she may not need to go to school everyday. Third, I presume that she will take the summers off and may want to live in the heart of Dallas to find summer internships, etc. Fourth, there is also a decent chance that she will move in with friend, boyfriend, etc. by her junior year at least.

If you read my posts, I am critical of the school system in Lakewood, but the community, houses, etc. are great. Since you would not be using the schools, I would not hesitate to move to Lakewood. Let her husband have a short commute and enjoy living in the heart of the city.

Good friend lives in Lakewood and works in LC. She does it; but don't know her route.

Does it involve a helicopter at any point?

I commute from Greenway Parks to the LC area during rush hour ever day. Only takes me about 15 minutes. I couldn't imagine it taking more than another 25 to get on to Lakewood.

I live in Lakewood and work in Las Colinas. It's 30-40 minutes and that's going against traffic. Las Colinas to Lakewood would involve driving through downtown Dallas at rush hour. There is no possible way that's a 40-minute commute.
