Yep!

I used to live within walking distance of there, between that and the Library, those were my "go-to" places for an upscale night out.

I'm sure with downtown's resurgence that sort of thing (location) is now becoming less of an issue. Soon, downtown will have its own critical mass of residents. Plus the "confusing" one-way streets are hardly unique to Dallas. One only needs to pay attention and learn for one's next trip DT!

I was at Al's last weekend. It was absolutely packed, but as I looked around, the average age of the customer was in his 60s. I have to imagine that the average customer probably lives in the Park Cities or Preston Hollow. Moreover, the parking lot looked like the Mansion. I just don't see those older customers getting on the tollway and driving their Mercedes downtown.

With so many choices, I would expect that people would mainly pick the steak houses closest to their house. For example, a couple in Plano is driving to Bob's at legacy, rather than hitting Perry's in Uptown. Two main reasons for my theory: 1) there is not that much difference between any of the top steakhouses, and 2) no one wants to be on the road too long after drinking wine, etc. This poses a problem for Downtown where there are still a limited number of residents, especially residents that can afford $200.00 dinners.
