I am new to Dallas and live in the Park Cities. A friend of mine is coming to town and
staying at the W. Since I am new to the area, I have no idea what we should do
on a Saturday night. Looking for suggestions for a good dinner and possibly a nice
place to hang out (can be different places). A little dressy (think Herve Leger dress),
30/40 age crowd, good food and wine. All suggestions appreciated!

Bistro 31 for dinner and then Lounge 31 for after dinner social time in highland park village.
Alternative closer to the W would be Charlie Palmer at the Joule for dinner (heard it will be changing soon so catch it while you can) with post-dinner up on the pool deck though I'd call first to make sure the pool bar will be open that night.

Not sure if you're looking for a party scene or a laid-back vibe. If it's laid-back you're going for, I'd recommend dinner at Oak, followed by drinks at The Library bar.

Another option is dinner at Lark on the Park (across from Klyde Warren downtown). Great food and a vibrant bar scene, very close to the W.

Good suggestions above. Stampede 66 has a Texan vibe if you want that...also if the weather in nice the Live Oak Bar outside the Ritz Carlton is a great place (you can also do that at Hotel Zaza at the pool but more of a party scene). If you go to the Ritz, Sambuca is across the street and sometimes has live music.

The pool at The Joule is really one-of-a-kind...but then the W has one also...

Al Biernat's is also a good place to have dinner to see the Dallas "scene"...actually very casual there, but very Dallas..can be noisy though...

The Dakota's: the atmosphere is dressy casual and the food is great. You pull your car up to the elevator which is curbside where the valet parks you vehicle and you descend below the streets of downtown. (Seriously, the only thing you see is an elevator.)

You don't like the Dakotas?

There isn't a lot going on in the Park Cities unless you're a member of the DCC or the Park City Club. There is place over in HP village but we've never tried it out.

Oh, does not need to be in the PC, I would assume
I will end up Uptown? Somewhere fairly dressy, though please!

My two favorite places, we live in Uptown and are moving to the PC.

The Dakotas is downtown and why I originally suggested it. The two places that comes to mind in Uptown is Morton's and Trulucks. Both places are decent and located McKinney Ave near Pearl street. Morton's is a higher dressy steak restaurant while Trulucks is a more relaxed dressy steak & seafood place. Uptown is a lot of fun on weekends with numerous clubs along McKinney from Allen St to Pearl. Everything is within walking distance but you can take the Trolly or a cab.
